Greg is a former cricketer who represented Australia at international level in both Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODI). The second of three brothers to play Test cricket. Chappell was the pre-eminent Australian batsman of his time who allied elegant stroke making to fierce concentration. An exceptional all round player who bowled medium pace and, at his retirement, held the world record for the most catches in Test cricket. His career straddled two eras as the game moved toward a greater level of professionalism after the WSC schism. Since his retirement as a player in 1984, he has pursued various business and media interests as well as maintaining connections to professional cricket; he has been a selector for national and Queensland teams, a member of the Australian Cricket Board, and a coach.
Trevor Chappell, former Australian international cricketer and member of one of cricket’s most iconic families, has dedicated his life to the game both on and off the field. After a successful playing career, he went on to coach and develop cricket programs in countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Singapore. Trevor now joins his brother Greg as Patron of Grassroots Cricket, bringing decades of experience and a deep passion for the sport to inspire young players and promote cricket as a pathway to opportunity and growth.

His career began in journalism, writing for leading publications before joining UNICEF, where he has championed children’s rights across the globe. A self-confessed cricket tragic, James brings his passion for the game and for equity to Grassroots Cricket, helping empower young lives through sport and proving that cricket can be a catalyst for hope and positive change.
